Material Boy's SS09 fashion show took place last night and we love the interplay of shapes and silhouettes, as well as the cool graphics designer Mic Eaton put forth. The comparisons to Jil Sander and Raf Simons are inevitable but we still feel that Material Boy presents a vision that's like no one else's. Definitely one of the most directional and innovative collections out now. Pics from the show (
"RUNWAY: MATERIAL BOY SS09" »
It's Australian Fashion Week, and although there have been plenty of shows, very few menswear designers have shown their ss09 collections yet. While we're waiting for Material Boy's show on Friday, we bring you some pics from
We’re really feeling the sporty street looks of Japanese menswear label HEATH, which was presented during Japan Fashion Week a few weeks ago. The theme of the was "shadow” and the collection drew on the darkness and fear of the shadows of London, where designer Gentaro Noda lived as a child. A aplette of black, white gray and silver drove the shadowy feeling home. Sleek suits, shiny puffer jackets, and ski pants were key items. More pics after the jump.
There's no room for color, or even the smallest percentage of body fat in the minimalist chic collection
The summer trade show schedule just got a little less complicated. ENK International, which operates The Collective and Blue shows, said it will move the dates of its summer ’09 edition to July 21–23. The shift will allow ENK’s shows to run concurrently with Project. According to Elyse Kroll, ENK’s founder and chairman, “ENK International creates shows to bring designers and retailers together. If there is a way to make men’s market week more efficient for our stores, we will do everything we can to accomplish that. I hope that unites our industry and helps all of us anticipate a strong spring/summer ’09 season.” The Collective and Blue will be held at Piers 92 and 94, and Project will be at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
We've done Paris, Milan, London, Copenhagen, New York, but fashion week is still not over. Japan Fashion Week kicked off yesterday in Tokyo and we are looking forward to seeing the future... We're a little disappointed that most of Japan's more famous names in fashion are not showing this week but,
After visiting WSA last month, it was really apparent to us that the footwear industry is dying for a change. The show lacked any sort of vibe, in our opinion, and anyone looking for top tier, or directional footwear had to go through a series of weird hotel room set ups or hunt down a collection in a mega-booth maze at the convention center. So, BPMW is launching a shoe show, called Compass: The New Direction. The show will run July 28 & 29 in Las Vegas and will feature 40 of the world's coolest brands, all under one roof, with open fixturing, and a great vibe. We've already proven how fun a trade show can be with Capsule. Now witness Compass. Visit
DNR REPORTS: ENK International is making efforts to avoid a scheduling snafu that currently has the men’s spring ’09 trade shows here slated to run in different weeks this July. Project is now scheduled to run from July 21 to 23 at the Jacob K. Javits Center and the independent
While the Paris women's shows are underway, now's a great time to review what's been happening in menswear. The venerable fashion commentator Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune has put together a great recap of the trends and ideas seen at the European menswear shows last month.
