SHOWROOM SPECIAL: SPRING ROUNDUP

The spring selling season is all wrapped up, and we asked some of the market's top showrooms to tell us what were their best booking styles, and classifications. After the jump we've got answers from The Vanguard- Museum Group, & Re:Change Showroom. Check back for more showrooms next week!

What classifications are selling best?
Our best selling classifications thus far have been footwear, tees and we are beginning to get a bite on accessories.  I believe commodity items are the easiest purchases right now at wholesale and retail. Under $200.00 seems to be the magic price point in this very tough retail environment.
What do you expect to do well in 2008?
I expect footwear to continue to be the holy grail heading into 2008 and I also believe accessories will become a more important part of the market for consumers and retailers.  I would love for cut and sew become a greater focus for brands and consumers heading into ‘08 as many brands are doing great things to traditional silhouettes.

MUSEUM GROUP curator, Dre Hayes

What are the best selling classifications  or trends right now? Throwback 80's cut and sew jackets from Hells Bellz, High tops for women have been hitting the streets hard, anything organic - the whole green movement! We are also seeing a trend where the market is getting a little bit cleaner, color is  still important but we are seeing customers gravitate towards a  cleaner look. What classifications or trends are you expecting for fall '08?
I think colors will be richer and more sophisticated.  And there will be a use of unconventional fabrics for more avant garde looks. Fall 08 is going to be a great season for footwear.  The market has been so all over the place where consumers are looking for new styles and brands.  High tops will still be a big trend as well as more earth tone colors.  Boots will also be big this season, we have a lot of great ammo for Fall 08 and it’s the perfect time because there has been such a lull in the boot market the past 2 years.

RE:CHANGE
Owner Patrick Goodspeed
What are your best selling styles?

My best selling item is always Japanese, selvage denim from Kicking

Mule Workshop.

Retail price, $325.

Sold at: Odin (New York), and Douglas Fir (Los Angeles).

What classifications are selling best?

My best trend is raw, handmade denim but it's a big part of what my

showroom focus is- so I don't expect it to change too soon.

What do you expect to do well in 2008?

For fall 2008 I'm expecting a continuation of luxury work-wear &

street-wear from the US and Japan.
