MAGAZINE NEWS: SURPRISE! JANE JUST FOLDED-- LIKE THIS MORNING

(NEW YORK) Jane magazine has folded, The Daily has learned. According to sources at Condé Nast Publications, Jane’s parent organization, staffers returned from the long holiday weekend and were informed of the news this morning. Editor in chief Brandon Holley and vice president/publisher Carlos Lamadrid are leaving the company, while staffers are welcome to interview for new positions within Condé Nast. Jane will cede publishing with the August issue. The magazine’s complementary website (www.janemag.com) will be shut down as well. Jane was founded in September 1997 by Jane Pratt. On August 8, 2005, Holley was named editor in chief. She had been at Ellegirl under the same position. An official announcement is expected this afternoon.

I am completely not surprised, ever since Jane Pratt left the layout has changed and I think it diverted from its original intention. It became a little too much like cosmo for my taste and think most of its readers as well.
