Get Your Look ON

What will be your look for Vegas? Joey Lionetti offers some inspiration...

JOEYSELECT[1].JPG
Are you ready for Vegas? By now your sample lines should be almost ready, your lines sheets, catalogs and press materials complete. Now all you have to worry about is your look.  Will you go dramatically different for Vegas? Grow unusual facial hair? Get a haircut? Try a new trend? You’ve got less that a week to go.
We ARe The Market recommends some tried and true looks with personality:
The Mullet: Looks good for guys and girls and really makes a statement with some tight jeans!
The Afro: Also a statement maker-- looks great with shorts!
The handlebar mustache- we recommend this look only for men. Think Magnum PI, or McEnroe.

Joey Lionetti, owner of Select Showroom is a master of the ever-changing trade show look.  Every season he does something new—for the stylish to the ridiculous. Joey, you’re an inspiration! Here are some looks from trade shows past…

FACE TO FACE

The We Are The Market Interview with Michael Macko, VP Men's Fashion at Saks Fifth Avenue rayban.jpg
WeATM: What's inspiring you right now?
MM: Athletic and sport inspired was a huge them on the European runways and I think will play an important role in the American Contemporary market, especially bright Olympic colors. I also love the return of the New England Preppy, I think what looks fresh now is: short sleeve plaid shirts, seersucker, raw denim, boat shoes, "Save the Whale" t-shirt, A Filson bag, Ray-Ban aviators and a sailor's knot bracelet.
WeATM: What are key trends for s/s 2007?
MM: Shorter shorts (especially cut-offs), short sleeves, sport inspired fashion: rugbys and track suits
WeATM:What brands are you looking forward to seeing at Project Las Vegas?
MM: The most exciting to me is finding a brand that I am not familiar with yet.
WeATM: What brands are you most excited about right now?
MM: Chip & Pepper (especially CPU), 7 for all Mankind (especially their wovens and non-denim bottoms) the new Converse line by John Varvatos.
WeATM: Denim, What's hot now?
MM: Straight to skinny. Raw looks good, but is a tough sell at retail for us. And things have been clean for so long that busted up is looking fresh again.
WeATM: What was the last book you read or movie you've seen?
MM: Augusten Burroughs is my favorite author, I saved his new book "Possible Side Effects" to read on the plane to Europe for the spring shows, I read Helmut Newton's autobiography on the plane back - He was amazing. Summer movies are my guilty pleasure! Give me a freezing cold multi-plex, a tub of popcorn and a blockbuster and I am very happy. My favorites so far have been: The Devil Wears Prada, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Superman and Strangers with Candy"

Philip Treacy x Umbro

The mad hatter of the UK teams up with the hottest sportswear label

philip treacy.jpg  We are loving the unusual collaboration of Philip Treacy- Britain's most influential and avant-garde milliner, with Umbro. The collection takes the concept of sporty luxe style to a new level with cashmere hoodies, python skin sneakers, and super bright colored track suits. The Philip Treacy for Umbro collection launches at retail this fall at Bloomingdale's.
