The frock and froth set were out in full force at the swanky Casa Tua Club to celebrate L’Uomo Vogue’s Miami issue shot by Bruce Weber. Iris Apfel strolled in wearing gold python pants and a Mayan death mask on her necklace, “My husband wasn’t too thrilled with this purchase, needless to say.” Naomi Campbell was wearing a sleek, spangly Alaia number, but her most prominent accessory was her new, new face (yes everyone was talking about it). Other gilded guests included Cecilia Dean, Thom Browne and the much hyped Montcler crew. When asked about the new glossy, very naked issue Franca Sozzani told us that she , “Thought a Miami issue would be great. Bruce lives here so thought it was a good moment and here we are!” More after the jump.
We followed the flow of champagne to the Krug sponsored Visionaire party, held in the sandy backyard of the Raleigh. (Note to self: ladies, wear wedges and not heels for sandy party situations, to avoid sinking.) The V-crew had a bevy of hot boys displaying the new pop up books, to kiss and fondle for the crowd. The centerpiece of the event was a six story fountain of champagne, which everyone kept dipping their finger in hoping it was real. As Cynthia Rowley said, “Ah it must be a recession if it’s not even real champagne.” Other guests of note were, Claw Money, (who we nick named Tassles), Mortimer in her flapper outfit and hot young artist Tofer Chin, who was ready to break the rules and dive off the velvet roped diving board for a quick dip. Lady Bunny was keeping the crowd twirling, until the bar ran dry and the cool kids headed to the now infamous Twist Gay Bar, for lap dances and last calls. (Cator Sparks)
Everyone in the art world exhale! Art Basel is alive and well. This reporter has been on the down low asking dealers how sales are and they seem to be steady. Although, we did hear this in one stall: One gallery owner quipped "We are really selling art! We are really selling art!" As his customer nasaly exclaimed, "Well you’re the only one!" But the buzz is here and people are milling about dressed to the nines. As you can see, some here are dressed to the tens and twelves. After four hours of de Koonings, Dash’s and Diebenkorn’s we are heading to the newest shopping destination, the Webster. Where my date for the weekend, Price, is planning on scooping up some Balenciaga before we head off into a night of debauchery. PIcs after the jump. (Cator Sparks)

Art Basel kicks off tomorrow and Cator Sparks will be reporting live from all the fabulous events he will be attending. Our fave invite? The pop up Visionaire invite to celebrate the new pop up Visionaire. We’re sure the party will be popping!
He started out as Vivienne Westwood’s partner in crime and popularized the “Teddy Boy” look, but now McLaren has something a little different on his plate…blogging. For this week, McLaren is the guest blogger for one of our favorites, The Moment. He is reporting from the Art Basel fair in Switzerland where some of his newest creative endeavors are being unveiled; his work is entitled “Shallow (1-21)” and is what he calls “Musical Paintings.” Enjoy coverage of one of the world’s greatest art fairs from one its revolutionaries.
