Last week, we had the pleasure of visiting the Shipley & Halmos showroom for a sneak peek at the label’s AW10 collection.  Designers Sam Shipley (left, with a women’s AW10 coat) and Jeff Halmos have created a fall collection made for layering.  Men’s pieces like a cashmere wool car coat and a reinterpreted take on the ubiquitous varsity jacket are functional and versatile enough to be mixed and matched with knitwear and woven shirting from the collection.  Throw in cotton henleys, a denim jacket and some loose-fitting tees in pink and blue, and you have a feel for the relaxed, lived-in flavor this collection adds to the more polished Shipley & Halmos aesthetic.  Click below for more highlights from the label’s lookbook, as well as some words of wisdom courtesy of an S&H-branded fortune cookie.  (Steve Dool)
