At times, keeping up with fashion trends may be more exhausting than life itself. Eastland remedies this by making stylish, classic, well made shoes that transition seamlessly through the seasons. Eastland Shoes has been owned and operated by the Klein family since 1955 and is based in Freeport, Maine. This year marks their 55th anniversary and to celebrate, the family looked back into the archive and pulled a few styles to be introduced in a (capsule) collection of all-American goodness for the SS11 season. All the shoes are handmade in Maine with the finest workmanship using high quality leather tanned in the USA. These future classics not only last long but they also get better with wear. We caught up with the Klein brothers, whose grandfather started the company, to check out their collection and we’ve got some photos after the jump. (Santho Goonewardene)

From Salt Lake City comes Zuriick by Chad Tovey and Michael Mccaleb. In the early noughties, the two noticed a need for a low profile, simply designed shoe on the market. So in 2006, Zurrick was founded to provide the shoe-shopping public with a line in simple taste. Be sure to read what Mccaleb has to say about his current collection before viewing it at (capsule).
What are some concepts, movements, era, people, music etc that have impacted the design of the collection and why?
I try and stick with the original concept of Zuriick which is simplicity. I don’t try to over think or over design any one shoe. A shoe has a specific use, and anything that isn’t practical, doesn’t belong on a shoe. We’ve added more boot styles which comes from my hobby of working on vintage Japanese motorcycles. The colors were inspired by circus photos I came across one day browsing websites I frequently visit.

Graffiti artist turned fashion designer, Claw (Claudia) Money has done it again! It is not often that we see a perfect collaboration combining New York’s chic hipster style with California’s surfer punks, but thanks to the new venture from Claw Money x Vans, we now have a small hip line for trendy girls everywhere. The collaboration includes two styles of sneakers: high top “Hadley” and casual low “Aleeda,” both with the classic Claw Money icon and leopard print in aqua and coral on black canvas, as well as a printed tank and funky athletic socks. If you share my enthusiasm for her collections and know that every single piece that has her name attached to it is a masterpiece, check out this small capsule of coordinating pieces. All items available for retail at clawmoney.com, vans.com, CCS.com and Zumiez.com. Photos via 80spurple.com (Santho Goonewardene)
